Lagos NSCDC Deploys 2,150 Personnel for Sallah Celebration

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, has made a move to ensure the safety of residents during the Sallah celebration. Meanwhile, the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), popularly known as KAI, has taken steps to ensure the cleanliness of the environment during and after the festivities. Corps Marshal of LAGESC, Major Olaniyi Cole (retd.), said the Sallah celebration is significant to Muslims worldwide because it commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah. He disclosed that operatives had been directed to intensify monitoring of environmental infractions. They'll arrest offenders and sensitise residents on compliance with environmental laws.

The LAGESC has warned traders against displaying wares on road setbacks, lay-bys, kerbs, road verges, medians, and gutter slabs. They're saying it's because street trading obstructs vehicular and pedestrian movement. He further advised commuters to use pedestrian bridges while crossing highways to avoid accidents caused by reckless motorists.
